Teach and Prepare your Children for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ

Jesus holding a lamb and words in a circle around Jesus that say Teach and prepare for the second coming of Jesus

Activities, and resources to help teach Thessalonians.

The teachings of Paul are so uplifting. Paul genuinely loved the people he taught. He wanted them to have his heart. He cared so much that he taught even while in prison or chased out by mobs. He sacrificed so much. You can feel his love and desire to bring joy to the people he taught. I found some fun ways to help you teach and prepare your children for the second coming of Jesus. Here are some fun ways to teach your children what Paul taught in the same loving way he did.

So, Thessalonians 1 and 2 are letters to the people of Thessalonica. I thought writing a letter to the people of Thessalonica (your children) would be fun. So I did. The first letter is 1 Thessalonians, and the second is 2 Thessalonians. I had a lot of fun writing it more simply for your family to enjoy. It would be fun to roll it up, tie a piece of twine around it, and put it in the mailbox for your children to get. Get some hot chocolate and treats and sit together to read it as a family. Click the link below for the letters.

Next, I found a cute story about a pretzel.

Popular legend states that a long time ago, there was a kind Italian Monk. He knew the importance of prayer. He created a very special treat for the children who memorized their prayers. The Monk cut soft bread dough into long strips and then folded them into a special shape before baking them. The unique shape of the pretzel is like a child with folded arms. He called the treats “pretiolas,” which is Latin for “little rewards.” Just like the little children in the story, we are rewarded when we fold our arms and bow our heads to pray to our Father in Heaven. We are rewarded with love, peace, comfort, guidance, strength, and forgiveness. Talk about the importance of prayer. I bow my head and twist my arms tight before I climb into bed at night. I say a prayer to my Father above to give Him thanks and feel His love. Thessalonians 5:16-18 talks about the importance of praying without ceasing and giving thanks for all we have. You can make pretzels with your kids or get some pretzels and show them how they are twisted like praying hands.

I have a fun object lesson to help with teaching what it means to be sanctified.

Here is an activity with fish. Each fish has a word on it like, Faithful, Kind, Love. All words are found in Thessalonians 5:14-25. These are things we can work on to be better people and ready for when Jesus comes again. You can cut out the fish and use them to fish for the words to talk about. I really think your kids will love the activity and it will keep their interest while you teach about how to prepare for Jesus.
